"Angels and Devils" (2002)

"Angels and Devils" originated in Barrett's one-hour long experimental music theatre composition "Agora" (2000-2002). In "Agora" six psychological conditions - fettered, fear, play, calm, longing and anger - were explored through the convergence of a sound making architectural installation, spatialised electroacoustic sound and a performing soprano (Kristin Norderval). "Angels and Devils" sets in opposition good and evil and the conditions of longing and anger in an acousmatic work that transforms sounds of the installation, vocal sounds from Norderval and texts in Old Norse spoken by Magnus Rindal.

"Angels and Devils" was awarded both jury and public first prizes in the Nortoit competition (France, 2002).
